(CNN) -- Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas announced today that it is no longer possible for his cabinet to continue governing the Palestinian people in the face of obstacles imposed by the Israeli occupation, as well as the changes sweeping across the Arab world.

Abbas said that he has tried everything possible to accomodate the Israeli government's demands, and has tried to please the Obama administration, but concluded that "they are not genuinely interested in peace; it has become clear that they are buying time to enable Israel's continuing expansion into Palestinian territories and the continued ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people."

In an address broadcast from his presidential compound in Ramallah in the West Bank, Abbas told a meeting of the Palestinian Central Council that the division and conflict between Fateh and Hamas has been mainly orchestrated by the U.S. and Israel in their attempts to further weaken the Palestinian struggle. He issued an official apology to the Palestinian people in Gaza for not taking the necessary actions to oppose the ongoing siege of that territory.

"I am ready to go to Gaza tomorrow for the sake of ending the division and uniting in our struggle against the Israeli occupation of our lands," Abbas said. "We will no longer negotiate with Israel until it immediately ceases settlement construction, withdraws all its troops from the West Bank and ends its siege of Gaza," he affirmed.

In Gaza, Haniyeh welcomed Abbas' response and called on the Hamas government to follow up with the appropriate arrangements for a united struggle for the liberation of Palestine and for democratic reform.

If only Abbas wasn't a U.S. quisling, and the leaders of Fateh and Hamas weren't power-hungry politicians, this is what could happen. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and this here is just an April fool's joke... happy April fool's day! But more seriously, the first step towards liberation, is to get Abbas & Co. (who are nothing more than subcontractors for Israel's occupation) impeached, and to reform the PLO so that it is a genuine, democratic, and united representive for all the Palestinian people (in the West Bank, Gaza, '48 territories, and the diaspora). Support the Palestinian revolution!

Without the Iranian weapons expected for delivery right about now, Hamas faces increasing pressure to get political and work with the PA. Perhaps they will agree to halt rocket launching until after a peace deal is reached. Sad thing is that sounds like a bad joke. The idea of peace with Hamas... more

There is no peace with hamas, we know they dont want it, and they know they dont want it, only the gullible parts of the rest of the world (or the lying parts) say they want it. As such, we will continue to tear apart their prospects for a terrorist state, as is the only rational solution to the con... more
